Life Drawing Wednesdays
Day:
Wednesdays
Starts:
17:15
Ends:
18:45
 Max:
30
IN-PERSON
Activity
Location: L214, SETU Carlow

EDIT: As of 09/10/24, our new meeting room is L214!

Hey folks!

I hope this will prove to be a useful resource for any artists on the SETU campus - Life Drawing is a key skill for the development of any visual artist.

In our event, one/two artist(s) per week will take on the role of being a subject for the other artists. Depending on how things go, we may bring in interesting artifacts for the artists to also draw.

Unless there's specific call for it, I don't think we're going to include rounds of critique - we'll just focus on drawing for the time we have (taking small breaks).

I should first note that I (the admin/founder) am NOT in any of the SETU art courses (I'm in Games Dev!), nor do I have any formal art training - so don't expect any training or advice from me. =D

Indeed, I'm looking for ideas and suggestions from the attendees - please let me know how you'd like to form this event over the coming weeks.

Roxanne Burchartz suggested the following:

"I'd suggest to start with 30 second warm up sketches ( think in shapes, draw the contour of the model) and build it up to 1 minute, 3 minutes,5 minutes up to 10 - 20 depending on how long the overall session is. Add more detail each time."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regards choosing the model, my thoughts on the topic go like so...

The person who previously modelled does this:

Count number of attendees (attendance list is useful anyhow).

Write down number in range of 1-num of attendees, inclusive. Don’t show chosen number.

Have each attendee pick a number within that range and write it down.

No repeat numbers!

Whomever picked the chosen number is the first model.

If that person has recently modelled, instead pick the closest number below the chosen.

If that doesn’t work, instead pick the closest number above the chosen!

Sessions are 1hr 30mins - time to arrive and settle in.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have any questions or need more details, please get in contact.

Right! See you on Wednesday!
